The aims of Croy Historical Society are simple. We endeavor to record the heritage and history of the present village of Croy and surrounding areas including:
 

  • the old hamlets of Croy Row, Smithston, Auchenstarry, Nethercroy, Drumglass, Mosswater, Craiglinn, Craigmarloch, Auchinbee, Turneyhill, Toddshill, Dumbuck, Dochledge and Ashbeugh
  • The ancient history of the area, for example “The Romans” and Roman remains on Croy and Barrhill.
  • The role of the coal and ironstone industries
  • Farming
  • The flax industry
  • The Forth & Clyde Canal
  • The Edinburgh-Glasgow Railway line
  • Local roads, quarries, water courses and ponds
