The aims of Croy Historical Society are simple. We endeavor to record the heritage and history of the present village of Croy and surrounding areas including:
- the old hamlets of Croy Row, Smithston, Auchenstarry, Nethercroy, Drumglass, Mosswater, Craiglinn, Craigmarloch, Auchinbee, Turneyhill, Toddshill, Dumbuck, Dochledge and Ashbeugh
- The ancient history of the area, for example “The Romans” and Roman remains on Croy and Barrhill.
- The role of the coal and ironstone industries
- Farming
- The flax industry
- The Forth & Clyde Canal
- The Edinburgh-Glasgow Railway line
- Local roads, quarries, water courses and ponds
Recording is by the written word, document, audio format and digital storage.
