Shortly after his arrival in  Croy 1941 Father Patrick sheary began to gather around him a number of parishioners, younger and older, who shared his interest in amateur dramatics. This resulted over the next few years, with input after 1948 from Father Thomas Reilly and, from 1950,also from Father John Hanrahan,in a number of highly popular productions.Scenes from the exotic The Rajah of Rajahpore, the edifying Passion Play If I Be Lifted Up, the colourful Bonnie Scotland, The Croppy Boy and Kevin Barry, two harrowing short Irish dramas, a one act Scottish Jacobite play entitled Campbell of Kilmore and the Insurance Man an uproarious comedy, still linger in many minds.Parishioners of a certain vintage will remember the historic contributions of villagers like Johnny McCann,
Bridget Donnelly, Ann Leary,Mary Canavan,Eddie Dailly,Peter Hackett, Peter Waters ,Tommy  Rafferty and others too numerous to mention. Besides drama there were memorable St Patrick's Day concerts filled with local talent. There was a genuine community "Buzz"about these events and the hall was always crowded with villagers and friends out to enjoy themselves and show appreciation of local acting and singing performances.
