Picture House.

For a time, in the 1940s-50s, the Parish Hall doubled as a picture house for young and old alike in the Parish. The price of entry was a nominal sum and the rewards were the lingering suspense of serials like The Clutching Hand and The Feathered Serpent and full length films of the period such as The Song of Bernadette with Jennifer Jones and Rose Marie, featuring Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald.

Parishioner John O'Neill created the posters to advertise the coming attractions in the Church porch. The local picture-shows saved all, especially the young, the trek to and expense of the Kilsyth cinemas and provided welcome entertainment virtually on the doorstep.
